‘Shall We Talk’ Open Performance
2022-08-09
'Shall We Talk' is a Language-across-the-Curriculum (LAC) project which integrates the subject content of Home Economics, Music, Physical Education and Visual Arts into the art of English public speaking. Each S3 student prepared a TED Talk style presentation on one of the four domains. After a series of research and presentation skill training sessions, our students were able to deliver a TED-style presentation confidently with basic speech craft, vocal variety and effective body gestures.
Alana Lee, Michael Chiu from S3A, Desmond Lam from S3C, and Gillian Leung from S3E were voted by our students and teachers as the most outstanding performers. They delivered their lively speeches in the school assembly as well as answered impromptu questions from our special guest Lilian Yeung, our honorable alumna and the team coach of our English Debating Team. Ms. Yeung gave the 4 speakers insightful comments and applauded for their entertaining and articulate speeches.
The open performance marked an uplifting ending for this scrambling school year. Different students were awarded for the remarkable efforts they put forward in the project with Best Research Award, Active Participation Award, and Best Performance Award. Not only did our S3 students become more confident, eloquent, and engaging in public speaking, but students from other forms also gained new insights into public speaking and impromptu speech.
